For Willem, the streets and the social interconnections in the houses around that street have been his field of activity for forty years and people his photographic object of study.

Willem has been a street photographer for over four decades, long before the term became commonplace. He captures the ‘condition humaine’ in square black and white like few others.

This has already resulted in four fantastic photo books: the sold-out Beautiful People and Timeless, and Behind the Great Wall, and the most recent Zuiderburen. Willem also wrote a didactic English E-book ‘On Street Photography’.
